QUAKE RESULTS

RISE IN HILLS. (Jhj Telegraph —Per Press Association) NAPIER. April 13. The River Board's engineer reported to-day that land at Clive, six miles south of Napier was depressed one to one and a-l.alf feet. There was a rise of six feet in Napier hills, two teet at itedclyll'e. three let at Kernhill, live miles west of Hastings. The elevations seemed general along the hills from Napier southward with a general tilt in Heretaimgn plain. They say this compels enlarging the overflow channel for Tutaekami river, to discharge the Waitangi. 'l’he general opinion is that Nap.vr is made more safe from river floods but the depression at Clive creates n serious position there.
