AVIATION

AIRMEN’S PROGRESS. United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyrignt.) (Received 10.10 a.m.) BASRA, March G. Airmen Fairbairn and Shenstone arrived, and left for Bushire. AIR FORCE ESTIMATES. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, -March G. Air Force estimates total £18,100,000 an increase of £250,000, for which increased pay is principally responsible. The child reduction is thirty thousand on civil aviation. Lord Amulree’s memorandum says these highly satisfactory estimates remain substantially lower than 1925, despite the increase in the Air Force strength. This result has been partly achieved by a vote of only liit-y thousand for an airship, pending a decision on the airship policy. The Government having regard to the fact that Britain is still the world's fifth air power and the. marked growth .in recent years of air expenditure abroad, has approved of a further modest instalment of the home del once scheme. Lord Amulree continues that Government earnestly hopes the disarmament- conference will produce a general reduction in air armaments, (tln> rapid development of which throughout- the ■ world. Government views with profound disgust), thus removing the serious disparity between the Royal Air Force and foreign air services.
