STRONG PROTEST

AGAINST WAGE REDUCTION. (By Teteginph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 12. A strong* protest against an.v scheme by the Government to reduce wages was made 1.0-da.v by a deputation from Wellington Trades and Labour Council to the lion. G. W. Forbes. It was claimed wage reductions would further decrease consumption and Hit both primary nrodueers and commerce. The real remedy was the adjustment of interest and profits. However, if the Government decided to reduce wages it should exempt all those receiving under £■> a week.

In reply Mr Forbes said the country was faced with a big shrinkage in income, and adjustments would have to he made. He would take a. course that would lie fair to all.
