GENERAL CABLES

FEDERAL FINANCE, POSSIBLE GUARANTEED LOAN. f ßy Telegraph—Prose Aaction). Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, February 4. Although definite information is unobtainable whether the British Government intends to come to Australia’s assistance as the newspapers continue to suggest, the Australian Press Association finds a growing impression in financial circles that if Mr Seullin meets Parliament on 3rdd March with a strong courageous policy of retrenchment and economy and three years plan proves acceptable to London financiers, it should be possible for Air Seullin to ask the British Government to guarantee a loan for a substantial amount here. The opinion is expressed that a five per cent loan with a Government guarantee, would probably be readily subscribed. It would immediately correct- the exchange position and tide Australia over present difficulties.
