A Bill which will make vital changes! in the conduct and control of the coal mining industry has been prepared by , the State Cabinet, to be submitted to Parliament within a few weeks. A Board of three members is to be appointed by the Governor, and will bo empowered to dose mines and regulate prices of coal and the number of employees, to be engaged in the industry. Alembers of the Board will be appointed ior a term of seven years. A bitter attack upon the Government for its failure to provide assistance to necessitous farmers was made in the Assembly by the Leader of the Opposition. Air Bavin. He urged the immediate repeal of the legislation resorting to be 44 hour week, and other measures designed to assist the city worker as against the fanner. He suggested that the Loan Council be approached for financial assistance to take fanners over the difficult period, ami further promised support to the sales tax on flour, which would provide eight hundred thousand sterling a vear.

Premier Lang declared the . late Government was responsible for "the present state of the farmers,. whose difficulties will be . removed in .. the brighter days to come under the Labour Government.
