DARWIN REVOLT

GOVERNMENT HOUSE .SEIZED. POLICE FIGHT UNEMPLOYED. (Australian Press Association) DARWIN, January 28. Unemployed disorders of a serious character here culminated to-day in violence. The police used their batons while the Communists fought with sticks. 'l'here were ten arrests made. Two of the police and two of the Communists were sent to the hospital. Sixty-five men, including the Communists, yesterday took possession ol the Government residence at Darwin, and they hoisted a red Hag. They demanded two days’ work, instead ol one. They were told that this was impossible, and they defied the authorities till to-day, when special constables were requisitioned to help f ho uniform police, who ejected the Communists, and kept'them on the run. Quiet has been restored.
