SYDNEY WOOL SALES

SYDNEY, Jan. 28

At to-day’s wool sales tfie offerings totalled 10,588 bales, of which 10,073 were sold, and also 772 bales privately. There was a particularly keen inquii'y for the finer merino descriptions. The sales for other sorts were unchanged. Greasy merino made 151 pence.

ADDINGTON STOCK SALKS. CHRISTCHURCH, January 28. The entries were mostly smaller and the values scarcely changed at to-day's Addington live stock sale, where there was a smaller yarding of fat cattle, but no increase in values. Unfinished lots were hard to quit. There was a general easing tendency. Extra heavy prime steers sold at £l4 12s 6d, prime £9 10s to £lO ss, medium £6 5s to £7 15s, lighter from £5 ss. Extra heavy cows sold to £8 17s lid, prime £5 to £6 ss, medium £3 to £4 15s. light from £2 10b. Rest heifers sold lu £9 7s 6d, prime £6 5s to £7 10s, medium £4 to £5 15s, others from £3

There was a larger yarding of store lambs, but little change in values. The top price for forward lambs was 9s 2d. Average lambs fetched 7s to Bs, medium 5s 6d to 7s, backward sorts from 2s sd.

There were no quotable adult sheep forward.

There was a smaller yarding of fat sheep, including many pens of good qaulity, giving the market a sounder tone- but there was little variation from recent values, which were firm. Prime heavy wethers sold from 18s to 20s, prime 15s to 1< s, medium 12s to 14s, light from 9s. Extra good ewes sold from 12s to 135.. prime 9s to 11s, medium 6s to Bs, light up to ss.

There was a full yardiug of fat lambs of mixed quality. Competition was regular, but at a lower basis. Best lambs sold to 17s 4d, prime 14s 9d to 16s 6d, medium 12s 6d to 14s 6d, light from 10s, inferior from is. There was a smaller yarding of fat pigs Pork hardened slightly. Bacon was easier. Porkers sold 25s to 335. heavier sorts £2 to £2 7s, light bacon £2 os to £2 10s, heavy £2 12s 6d to £3 17s 6d; best choppers to £6. There was no change in the values of store pigs.
