The liner Oropesa, carrying tin Prince of Wales and Prince George to South America, was scheduled to arrive here to-day, hut was delayed by storms, and is expected to-morrow morning. „ . ENDURANCE SWIM. MERCEDES GLEITZE’S ENTRY. (Received this day at 10 30 a.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 27. Mercedes Gieitze arrived here from New Zealand to-day. Probably she will take her place in the endurance swim at Manly Bath on Thursday.

Repairs and trials have been completed, and it is expected the D.O.X. will depart on the postponed .TransAtlantic flight on .Friday, when there will the advantage of a full moon.

LONDON WOOL SALES. LONDON. Jan. 27It is ollicially announced that the present series of London wool sales will close an sth February, instead of 15th February. The “ Financial. News ” says' it is clear that the supply at present in London is in excess of immediate requirements. Wool has been sent from Australia in recent months by concerns not normally (operating this commodity, mainly for the purpose of obtaining sterling. It is estimated that upwards of fifty thousand hales were sent to London in excess of normal, which must depress prices here.

Professor Flynn, of Hobart Town, Tasmania, has been awarded a special fiiteriiatTonaT educational grant hy the Rockfollow Foundation, in order to carry out, in conjunction with Professor Hill, research on the development of the Montreme Ovum, which will occupy him until September. Professor Flynn has also'been appointed • a rtf Honorary Research Assisatnt at the University <>, J London. He has also been invited to lecture at Cambridge University.
JAPANESE WINTER CONTEST
LOSS OF TWO PLANES FEARED
TOKIO, January 27
Participating in a winter endurance flight from Korea, four Army aeroplanes started yesterday morning. One made a forced landing at Seoul, and one arrived safely in Japan. 'I he other two are missing. It is feared that they have been lost at sea.

FATAL CRASH
LONDON, January 27
Tlie engine of two-seater plane p loted by its owner, Sydney Hargreaves, who recently learned aviation, stopped while flying over Bushlev Park and crashed three hundred feet. Hargreaves and a .passenger, Andrews, were killed instantly. The mutiliated bodies were extricated with difficulty from a pool.
