MADRID, Jan. 27. Springing a leak off thp JfHcante coats, the Lean, with a c-nrg<# ol carbide, was beached with the assistance of the crews of two fishing smacks. The three crews were later unloading the carbide by the light of torches, when there occurred a terrific expiosion. which was heard some miles away. The explosion destroyed the three vessels, while the Lezo’s entire crew of six were killed, while seven of the fishermen were . also -killed and four were seriously injured. Most of the victims were blown to pieces. The injured ones were picked ed un some distance from the scene of the explosion. ,
