Sir Ernest Rutherford, who was recently raised to the Peerage .has taken the title of Baron Rutherford of Nelson, New Zealand. CANADA’S TURN TO AIEET MATURING LOANS. OTTAWA, Jan. 24. Addressing, the delegates of the National Council of the Canadian Cham her of Commerce to-day. the Prime Minister, Air Bennett, said that Canada had maturities of more than a billion dollars worth of loans to meet hy 1934. No country had greater obligations in relation to the size of the population, and it must not he forgotten that there was a probability of a, budget deficit of one hundred million dollars this year. He added 1 “ We know that conditions will improve. In fact, there are indications of an improvement now that the psychological conditiions are becoming better." SCHNEIDER CUP. LONDON. January 25. There is the possibility that pilots and machines will yet be loaned for the purposes of the Schneider Cup.
