BRITISH SHIP SEIZED

Captain William ClueLt, of Lunenberg, Nova Scotia, Canada, died in the United States Marine Hospital at Staten Island, of wounds which he received when a United States Coast Guard cutter shelled an alleged rum boat, the British vessel "Josephine K,” which is registered at Digby, in Nova Scotia, and of which Captain Cluett was the master. The Coast Guard officers stated that their cutter discovered the British ship transferring liquor to a tug and a barge, near the Ambrose Channel. The cutter fired blank shells as a warning. Thereupon Captain duett's ship tried to escape. One-pound .shells were then fired, one of these striking the pilot house, in which the master was found wounded when the boatstopped. The Coast Guardsmen hoarded the ‘‘Josephine K’’ and took Captain Cluett to the hospital. '\ liev also seized the- “Josephine K.” the tug. and the barge with the alleged liquor -on board.
