MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED
CAR AND CYCLIST COLLIDE,
[By Telegraph. Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, January 26.
As the result of V collision on the new Wnimakariri bridge last evening Geo H. Garbutt, a chemist pf Kaiapoi was killed. A motor cycle ridden by Garbutt and a car driven by Leslie Norman Mclntosh collided. Garbutt and his motor, cycle , were- dragged a number of yards before the: car come to rest when it collided with a taxi. Garbutt was dead when extricated. No one else was injured, though neither of the cars could be driven away under its oivn power.
ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE.
HAMILTON, January 26
Frank Kerr, at Hamilton this morning, was charged with attempted murder of Gertrude West at Te Awamutu on Saturday, and was remanded till February 9th.

DR OWNING. FATALITY
HAWERA, January 26
The body of William John Turner Nicholson, aged 30, who disappeared in a crowded swimming pool of the river near Ohawe beach yesterday, was found about seven this morning. Deceased’s son aged 6 years, who went with him to the pool yesterday afternoon told other bathers after some time that his father had disappeared. Divers search the pool unsuccessfully and the police, who were notified aftei a delay of several hours commenced to search’ in the dark. They resumed dragging at daybreak this morning, a diver locating the body in lOfeet of water. Nicholson was a dairy company’s employee and leaves a wife and two children.
