FEDERAL PREMIER

CALLS FOR AN END OF STRIFE.*

(Australian Press Association.)

SYDNEY, January 25

The Federal political situation is far from reassuring. The Prime Minister, lit. Hon. J. H. Scullin, smarting under incessant criticism that is appearing in the press, which describes him as weak and vacillating, and. also the never-ending partv-bickering and intrigue, has threatened to resign if it does not ’ cease. Mr Scullin will, it is understood, take a firm stand at the Labour Party meeting that is opening to-morrow at Canberra. His view is that the tackling of the great problems that face the Government is impossible amid a din of political brawling.
