LATIN AMERICA

TRADE WITH BRITAIN

NEW YORK, January 24

“The Now York Times’s” financial editor states:—“American‘bankers and business leaders having interests in South America are following closely the progress of the tour of the Prince of Wales, in order to ascertain what effect it may have on the American trade with Latin America. It is considered inevitable that a comparison will bp made of the Prince’s present goodwill tour with that of President Hoover in the autumn of 1928. In some quarters here it is believed that greater benefits may result for the British manufacturers, commerce and finance from the Prince of Wales’ tour than was derived by American business from President Hoover’s visit, inasmuch ns that greater preparations have be,;ii mad e by the British.

The “Ti)nesV J editor then quotes the views of a group of noted business men, who point out the success of British diplomacy in the recent South American revolutions, and also point out that economic experts are accompanying the Prince of Wales, whose visit will appeal to the South American people generally, as well as to the governing heads of th e nations concerned.
