BIG ITALIAN CAPITALIST
LONDON, January 24

He has been banished for five years to Lipari Island, where he will be at the disposal of the Italian authorities. A French Committee is inquiring into the Oustric affair. Gualino was one of Italy’s biggest businessmen. His position lias been attributed to the grave situation of the Bauca Agricola, which was the instrument of his speculations. Gualino pioneered the artificial silk industry. He led a life of a grand seigneur. He had a magnificent picture gallery, and owned a Moorish castle in the Riviera, a stud of racehorses, having purchased famous thoroughbreds in England. He also bought newspapers.
