FORTY-THREE HOURS’ SWIM
AUCKLAND, January 18
Mercedes Gleitze succeeded in breaking her own world’s record for endurance swimming. She finished at 12.30 this morning, having swum continuously for forty-three hours. Her previous record was 42-J hours, established in Wellington.
SPRINT RECOR DS. BY SYDNEY GIRLS. SYDNEY, January 18. Women swimmers smashed two Australian records at the Australian championship carnival at Coogee Baths last night. Mise Bonnie Mealing retained her hundred yards Australian backstroke title, breaking her own record of 72 4-5 secs, by registering 71 2-5 secs. Miss Millie Mitchell won the hundred yards national championship by two yards in 64 4-5 secs, beating Misses Jean Cocks and Vera Powley. Miss Clara Dennis won the two hundred and twenty yards breastroke title in three minutes four seconds, which is an Australian record, beating Miss' Bonnie Mealing by one yard.
