MR SCULLIN’S DIFFICULTY,
COMMITTED IN HIS ABSENCE. LONDON, January 17. The “Morning Post’s” City Editor says . Apparently, there is some difficulty, both here and in Australia, m gauging Mr Sculliu’-s precise position as regards inflation. This is not altogether surprising, because the Australian Prime Minister’s position must have been embarrassed during his absence in Britain by the departure taken in Ausrtalia from the full original programme of reduction in expenditure. Reading between the lines, it would seem that Mr Seullin is genuinely anxious to avoid anything y* the way of inflation, but, inasmuch as expenditure must be met, be would seem, in that respect, to be somewhat dependent on the extent to which the investors in Australia will support such loans as may he brought forward.
