(Received 9.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 8. Premier Lang announces he is not attending next Teusday the important meeting of the .Loan Council, nor will New South Wales be represented at any future meetings.
TREASURY LOAN,
THE ALLOCATION. CANBERRA, January 8. The Commonwealth Treasury has allocated the twenty-eight million loan ns follows:—Commonwealth £18,527,000, New South Wales £2,469,000, Victoria £4,421,000, South Australia £2,484,000, Tasmania £99.000. Other States were not concerned in maturing securities, and therefore do not participate. The loan was two millions oversubscribed. This sum Jins not vet been allocated.
RATIONING
(Received 10.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 8.
An extraordinary position has arisen in regard to rationing. Some Union officials who urged the Government to insert in the Arbitration Amendment Bill a clause prohibiting rationing, are now petitioning employers to disregard the provision.
Employers in the metal trades refused to agree to do this, and the result will he serious for employees, thirty-five hundred being faced with unemployment.
DOCK) 1l J 1 K-APPOI NTED. SYDNEY, January 8. Dr. Chisholm Boss has been appointed consulting psychiatrist at Reception House. Justice Davidson scathingly criticised the evidence given by Dr. Ross in the Massy will case, and the doctor who was then chief medical officer at Reception House asked to lie relieved of his duties. Subsequently the Medical Board held an enquiry, into the conduct of Dr. Ross, and the charge of unprofessional conduct against him was dismissed.
SHEARERS STRIKE. BRISBANE, January 8. Shearers on strike are making determined efforts to prevent shearing at various stations. Hundreds of shearers arc moving around in cars and picketing roads to stop southern men commencing work. WRIT ISSUED. (Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) SYDNEY. January 8. A writ has been issued on behalf of the ‘‘Daily Telegraph” newspaper company in liquidation against Arthur Wickard and Coy. claiming: a hundred and forty-five thousand sterling: damages. Tt is understood the claim arises out of the sale ol the “Daily telegraph” building to the Hotel Savoy Ltd. in liquidation.

Judgment was reserved by the full court of the High Court on the application by the shipping companies for an interim injunction to restrain the Commonwealth Ministry from putting it to force new regulations providing for preference of employment to members of the Waterside Workers Federation.

PERTH, January 8
Representatives of the Pastoralists Association. Primary Producers Association, Chamber .of Mines Alining Association and Sawmillers Association had several conferences on the present economic crisis. The representatives are of the opinion that unless prompt action is taken in regard to industries with a vi<;\v to reducing the costs, operations might have to cease. If this occurred it- is considered serious financial collapse throughout the Commonwealth would fie inevitable.
