MR MALONEY’S HOPES,

(United Press Association —By ElectricTelegraph.—Copyright.)

(Received this dav at noon.) VANCOUVER, January 5

Addressing at a luncheon, the Board of Trade Canadian Manufacturers’ Association to-day, Mr.Maloney said: “The most I can say '.regarding negotiations in Canada is that we lia\e reached what I consider a highly satisfactory agreement from e»ery viewpoint Canadians and Australians considered. I will have to take the agreement back to Australia lor ration tion. I have no doubt the result will be the reaching of a satisfactory agreement. It is not the intention of the Australian Government to embarrass or injure any Canadian industry, but more to agree upon a pact that will be of mutual advantage. Just as in Australia we do not permit anyone to make depreciating remaiks about Canada, we know you in Canada will protect Australia in this manner. All we desire in Australia is that the truth he told.” The Minister said, Australia like other Governments was caught in the world depression. “We have no doubt we will pull through this, like we have our other troubles.”
