The Yacht Racing Association has accepted an Anglo-American agreement for modification to the universal rating rule for large racing yachts. Ever since the earliest history ol yacht racing, marked differences have existed-, between the rules governing the sport in England and in America. The rules governing the. sport ,in Great Britain for many years have beCn in the. hands of the Yacht Racing Association which, like other national governing bodies in Europe, has adopted'and agreed to identical rules, called: “Rules of the International Yacht Racing Unioh:” .

amenities Destroyed.' Tile Mies of bygone years of all British bodies, and those of more recent times of the European International Yacht Racing Union have always differed from those of the New You! Yacht Club The differences were most unfortunate,' because they destroyed the amenities of international yacht racing between British and American yatchsmen. They separated England and America, the only two countries which have conducted the sport beteen yachts of large size. For nearly forty years attempts have been made-to reconcile these differences, without the islightset success so far a.s they related to the systems of measurement of large yachts.

After the recent races for the America’s Cup, joint were appointed by the Yacht Racing Association on behalf of the European International Yacht Racing Union and by the New York Yacht Club. STANDARD REGULATIONS.

The result of the work of these committees has been an agreement upon one rule of yatch measurements for both sides, regulating the form, displacement, sail area, size of class, draught of water, freeboard, weight of masts, and cabin accommodation of yachts. This should have the effect of finally settling all differenes upon the rules in England and America, and enabling the yachts of both nations to race together upon equal terms at any time in either country.
