Stephen asked if Hill could finish the puzzle. Hill after writing clown words leading to the impression that he was drunk, dropped the crossword and went to a desk. ’ Art ezplosion followed and 'Stephen fell to his knees with a pistol bid let in li’.s head, but he was notseriously wounded. He rase up and lan from the house shouting for help.

Hill, exclaiming it was an accident followed, brought a constable to the cottage and submitted to arrest. Hill who declared he shot Stephen unintentionally, after loading the pistol to kill rats in the fowl house, was comfmitted for trial on charges of malicious wounding, possessing a firearm without a certificate and stealing and forging Stephen’s cheques to the amount of £9O sterling,.
