Faced with the alternative of fight or surrender, the Tharrnwoddy insurgents chose the former and yesterday gave battle to a detachment of the Second Fifteenth Punjabs near the village of Udo. The rebels aimed with rifies, sporting guns and short Burmese swords opened fire on the Punjabs carrying a lew casualties. lho soldiers returned the lire killing sixty and wounding thirty-six. Ihe reinaiudei retired to the jungle followed by Punjabs who continued the lire . lee casualties are unknown.
Seven hundred men of the Burma Rifles armed with machine guffs joined in the pursuit.
