DEALER LEAVES NEARLY £3OOO. AUCKLAND, December 24. Close oa £3OOO was left by Thomas George, a retired dealer, aged sixty/jjjseven, who died in a Vincent Street house yesterday. He had liv'ed a frugal life in his room at the rehouse for the past six months. He liv'"ed apart and kept to himself.. “He wiS quiet, and nobody knew he had so much money,” said the landlady " o' the boarding-liou.se. “Half an hour before he died I was speaking to lilm Then l heard a moan and before a doctor arrived he had died. He had been ailing for some time.” Bank books and documents showed that he had money and securities total ling £2801—£163 in the Auckland Savings Bank, £52 in the Post Office Savings Bank, £1472 in the National Bank and £1259 in the Bank of New South Wales. An inquest was opened this morning and. was adjourned pending the report of a post mortem examination.
