TOTAL REGISTRATIONS. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. Speaking here last night, Hon S. G. Smith, Chairman of .the Unemployment Board, saicl that 490,000 males had registered in the Dominion under the Act. In spite of the difficulties he was confident that New Zealand would emerge from its quicker than any other country. Mr Smith' referred to the investigations being made by the Board to find permanent schemes of work. He said that it was possible that within a very short time the Government would announce a vigorous land settlement policy.
