—— POLICE SEIZE LITERATURE. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, October 26. The police, when searching for a Russian woman, raided an estate agent’s and auctioneer’s office in the city and seized a quantity of inflammatory and revolutionary literature. Three men were arrested, including a journalist, who said that he was the editor of the phamphlet entitled “Strife.” PRINTERY BURNT. ADELAIDE, October 28A fire destroyed the printing office and plant of the “Agriculturalist and Review” at Jamestown. The damage is estimated at £60,000. N.S.W. BANK FIGURES. SYDNEY, October 29. Figures taken from the aggregate liabilities and assets of the trading banks for the quarter ended September 30th. disclose a further fall in deposits. Advances have not declined to the same extent, despite. the restriction of overdrafts, and as a consequence the position of advances in relation to deposits lias become still more unfavourable. The quarter decrease in deposits lias been £6,023,455 and in advances £5,183,998 sterling.
