PALMERSTON N., Oct. 28. Third round, the professional championship: Shaw heat Murray 2—l; .Mclntosh beat Bell 4 —2; Blair beat Moss 3—2; Rutter beat Douglas 10—8. O’Kourke’s Vase was won by Man a- ! wntu A. 313. Wingatui scored 315, Miramar 317, Wellington 319, Hutt 325, Manawatu B. 330, Eltham 335, and Christchurch 342. PALMERSTON N., Oct. 29. Second round and amateur championship:—Collins beat Seifert 1 up, Gathro beat Ross 11—10, H. Black beat Wright 7—5, Reilly beat Sime 3—2, A. Duncan beat Silk 7—6, J. Black beat M. Duncan 4—3, Biclwill heat Hogg 1 up at the 37th. hole, Horton beat Quinn 1 up at the 38th. Better weather prevailed to-day for the continuation of the golf championship. The open semi-finals of the professional title and third round for n.mateui's was playbd, The links were in greatly improved order. At the end of the first eighteen holes of the professionals semi-finals the position was Mclntosh four up on ■Shaw. Rutter one up on Blair, A* Mcjlntosh, is. playing brilliantly. He did the round in seventy-one. Shaw was weak "with putting, his oard be* ing .seventy-five. The other match was a most interesting .level ginme. Rutter had tv lead of three up but by persistent .steady golf with strong fours, Blair reduced the margin to one, Both were .playing beautiful golf. ...... • fT'In the third round of the amateur championship at the end of 18 holes Cathro was six up on- Collins, Reilly and H. Black all square; Duncan two up on J. Black; Horton three up on Bidwell. Cathro is not quite so good as yesterday, hut is sound: Collins was driving weltli, but his putting , is letting him down. Catbros round was 76 and Collins 83.
Reilly and H. Black are having a close, even match in which both are playing- ‘sound golf. Both did the round approximatey in 78. U Duncan is playing well except short mashie and niblick shots. He is making good -putting, wherein Black" is weaker than usual. Otherwise ;"i his game was good. > ; -j ' Horton was playing well! within himself to be three up on Bidwell whose putting, was bothering him.
