ARAPUNI RISKS

HAMILTON BOROT/GH REQUEST. By Telegraph—Per Press Association.' HAMILTON, October 23. A suggestion that the Hamilton Borough Council should seek an assurance from the Government that the Council would be fully recompensed for all the damage done should further trouble occur at Arapuni, is contained in a letter from the Borough Engineer (Mr R. Worley) read at the Council meeting last evening.

The Engineer stated:—“lt is to be noted that Arapuni is only forty miles in a direct line from one of the major geological fault lines in New Zealand and I think that the omission of this aspect from his (Professor Howell’s) scope of inquiries is regrettable.” The Mayor, Mr J. R. Few, pointed out that at the previous time Council had been recompensed to tfm extent of only £IOOO, a totally inadequate sum, and a great strain had been placed on the town and on Borough st; ffs.
