IN-PALESTINE
LORD MELCHETT’S PROTEST
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.)
LONDON, October 21
“It is almost unparalleled ingratitude and treachery- towards credulous and harassed people who belibved themselves to (have found haven under the British flag and the guaranteed word of British statesmen,” says' Lord Melchett in denouncing the Palestine decisions to Dr. Wei/,maun in which he (Lord Melchett) also resigns with Dr. Wiezmann the joint chairmanship of the Jewish Agency’s Council. Lord Melchett declares:—“The British Government’s action is a grotesque travesty of the purpose of the Palestine mandate and an insult to'Jewry’s intelligence. The recklessness with which the Government have wrecked the loyal support of Jews throughout the Empire and throughout the world is incredible in view of the fact that thousands of the Jews joined the British at a critical moment in the Palestine campaign, many giving up their lives for what they believed to he a genuine offer for the establishing of a Jewish national home.
