BURIED BY LOGS
TRAGEDY ON MILL TRAMWAY

Buried under a massive weight of logs, when pi hush truck on which he was travelling, overturned, Charles William Tuckey, a sawmill worker, employed at Gam man’s Sawmill, Oluikune Junction, was found to be in agony ifor over an hour this afternoon before he was discovered.
Medical aid was summoned, hut Tuckey had received terrible injuries, which resulted in his death shortly afterwards.
Tuckey, a single man, aged 20, whose parents reside near Taihnpe, was working on a hush tramway carrying logs from the bush to the mill. A fully laden truck, on which he was travelling hack to the mill, capsized as it was going down a hill, and Tuckey was pinned to the ground hv the weight of the logs which fell on ton of him.
It was nearly an hour before another truck came down the tramway, and Tuckey’is plight was discovered. Workmen were immediately called to assit in removing the heavy logs, and after a Jfew minutes of strenuous effort Tuckey was freed. However, hi,s legs and ribs were badly crushed, an dhe was unable to move. The injured man was hurried to Ohakuno, where received attention. The injuries to his chest wore very serious, however, and within an hour he died.
