At the annual conference of the National liberal Federation at Torquay' a resolution was passed reaffirming comlete independence of the Liberal Party and renewing its insistence upon its maintenance ns a separate political entity in Parliamentary affiairs appearing on a resolution condemning remedies which had been proposed to ipeet the trade depression.

Mr Ramsay Muir urged the time had come to bring an international movement for greater freedom of trade and reduction of tariff barriers. An amendment to the resolution, declaring protection in favour of one section of the community at the expense of others violated the principle of national justice, was adopted.
