(Receivod this day at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, October 16.
The British Government to-night formed the Dominion delegates that the construction of Singapore dock will be completed in contract time. Thus the Conference’s first important decision in ■ reached.
Air Snowden presided, and Messrs Henderson, Shaw, Amulrce and Alexander represented Britain, Messrs Scullin, Moloney and Brennan represented Australia, Mr Forbes and Sir T. Sidey, New Zealand, and other Dominons not attending. The decision will necessitate the speeding up of the work which was slowed down earlier in the year. It is understood that aerial defence of wireless stations is also being completed, but the British Government is further considering land fortifications. Discussions on Singapore are now concluded as far as the Conference is concerned. The decision meets the desires of Australia and New Zealand, that a dock accommodating the largest ships, shall ho available.
