INDIA ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE

It is announced that at the forthcoming Round Table Conference on India affairs, tbe British Government will be represented by tbe Prime-Dlinister (Dir MacDonald), the Lord Chancellor,(Lord San key), tlie Secertary for India (Mr Wedgwood Benn), tbe Foreign Secretary (Hon. A. Henderson) and Dominions Secretary. (Mr J. H. Thomas). Other Ministers will be invited to meetings of tlie Conference on -committee according to.the subject under discussion. Those nominated to represent tbe Conservative Party were’:— Lord Peel, Sir Samuel Hoare, the/Marquis of Getland, Major Oliver Stanley. The Liberal Party representatives will be: —Tbe Marquess of Reading, the Marquess of Lathian, Sir Robert Hamilton M.P., Dir Isaac Foot DI.P.
In consultation with the Secretary for India, the Government of India have agreed that the following officials shall attend the Conference in a consultative capacity;—Sir Malcolm Hailey (Governor of the United Provinces), Sir A, MacWntters (Finance Secretary to the Government of India). It is announced ..the King has. accepted the resignation of Sir M. Hailey from the Governorship of the United Provinces to enable him to be available at the Conference.. . ’ Tlie vacancy will be filled by Sir- George Bancroft Lambqr until Sir DL Hailey is free to return to India and resume the Governorship.
