BLASTING FATALITY.

(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) ROTORUA, This Day. A blasting accident at No. 1 Camp, Rotorua, Taupo Road construction, occurred yesterday afternoon. Horace R James, a casual employee was injured by a falling rock, his skull being fractured. The victim was immediately removed to King George Hospital where he lies in a critical condition. INQUEST . VERDICT. PALDIERSTON NORTH, October 8. An inquest concerning the death of Norman ; Corbett Wheeler, a resident of Feilding; which occurred at Palmerston Noi'th hospital, was held this morning. ’ Dr. Ward, medical superintendent’ of the hospital stated the deceased was admitted oil September 24th. suffering from, shock and severe lacerated wounds in the throat, and a smaller wound on the left wrist, Deceased died on September 28th., the cause being septic pneumonia. T. L. Seddon, solicitor of Feilding, described tlie finding of deceased in West Street Feilding, at 10.45 on the night of September 24th. with a gaping wound in tlie throat. When asked if he inflicted the wound with a knife, tlie deceased nodded his head, Tlie Coroner returned a verdict that deceased died from septic pneumonia following oil a lacerated wound in the throat, self inflicted.

SUDDEN DEATH

The death occurred suddenly on Sunday afternoon of Percy Brentnall, aged 57, a married man. He was returning from a fishing trip when he collapsed in a motor-car. He was a resident of Devonport, Auckland, and was engaged as clerk of works on' the erection of new buildings at the New Plymouth High School.
