WELLINGTON AERO CLUB
AFTER NEW AERODROME SITE

WELLINGTON, October 8
Rongotni aerodrome having certain natural disadvantages, the Wellington Aero Club have been endeavouring to obtain the lease of Scabie Island from the Hutt River Board. The Board which is primarily concerned with protecting and extending existing reclamation works had previously expressed itself unwilling to grant lease beyound a period of five years, but the club wants the minimum of ten years.
A deputation fc-from the Club waited on the Board to see if some arrangement could not be come to whereby the Club could got an aerodrome, and the Board have reclamation works protected.
The Board unanimously agreed not to grant a ten years lease unless the Club agree dto raise the whole of the 20 acres it required, to three ifeet above the mean high water mark. The estimated cost is £12,000,
