At Hamilton, in the Empire swinging. on Tuesday night, Joyce Cooper (England) won the women’s 100yds free style, creating a new Canadian record of 67 seconds. Ellen King (Scotland) was second, and Valerie Davis (Wales) third. In the women’s springboard diving O. AVliiteseff (South Aftficn) was first Doris Ogilvie (Canada) second, and Molly Baillie (Canada) thira. Canada won the women’s 800yds relay - England was second. Ryan, of -Australia, swam marvellously, winning the men’s 1500yds free style. Bridson (New Zealand) was second, and Burleigh (Canada) was third.

At Hamilton in the eight-oared boat race, the New Zealand crew was second, being three-quarters of a length away from the winners, Canada was third five lengths away. BOWLING, MONTREAL, Aug. 21. At the Empire Games at Hamilton the bowling singles resulted in Colquhoun (England) 21 beating Reid (Canada) 20, MONTREAL, Aug. 19. At Newport, Allison defeated E. R. Avory (England) 6—2. 6—4, 6—l. Van Ryn defeated F. J. Perry (England) 6—7/7-5, 6—B, 6—3. At Forest Hills Miss Nuthall defeated Miss Cross 6—o, 6—3.
