Mr Hyde announced the damage caused by the drought has already affected 583 counties, approximately a r , fifth; of ail the counties in United ’ States, to be certified for special freight rates for relief. Some of the finest farm and stock areas in the world are included in the sections requiring this aid for transporting feed and live stock, and Mr Hyde intimated i the list would grow. He added that there was : no reason to believe a special session of Congress would be required as reseeding operations for farmers would not require credit until after Congress meets for the short winter session in December.
SEARCH ABANDONEE. NEW YORK, Aug. IS. The search for the body of Van Lear Black, who apparently fell overboard from the deck of his yacht on Monday evening was abandoned to-day.
