An admission that he attempted to commit suicide hv placing one hundred headache tablets in beer was made by a seaman aged 33 in the Police Court. Magistrate. Woodward:—Oiie hundred. After taking the headache tablets he was removed to the hospital where he remained three days and wa.s now fit to be released. Magistrate (to accused)—Will you feel like this again? Accused—No, I was just mad. I worked myself into a fit of depression with bad luck. Magistrate—lt should never cause you that much trouble and distress. You should cheer up a bit. It is absolute folly, Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on. He was directed to make restitution to the hospital, and take out a prohibition order. The Magistrate—The probation of* fiefr, you will find, is a good friend, toyon. Tf you fall into the mood to com. mit suicide again, go to him and he will save you from it, . An order suppressing the name was granted.
