DUNEDIN PROTEST
AGAINST MAIN HIGHWAYS FUND. V (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Aug. 1. At a meeting to-day of representative's of the county councils and other bodies, the following motion was carried unanimously: “That this representative meeting of local bodies, private and commercial motorists, and dither interested parties, dedire to voice its emphatic protest against the proposal of the Government to discontinue the free grant of £235,000 to the Main Highways Fund; and' further considers that the intention to charge interest for' past free grants is a serious breach of faith with motorist, taxpayers.”
