YOUNG MAN’S FRAUD
,'By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, July 29. “This young man obviously requires to bo put under proper control,” said Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., in the Police Court this morning, of. Lawrence Francis Lagan, who pleaded guilty to committing a breach of his probation at Auckland on June 26t?i., and to obtaining credit by fraud in Dunedin of £4 Cs in board and lodging from Annie Connor by falsely representing that he was employed bv Coulls Somerville and AVilkie. Lagan af appeared for sentence on a charge of the theft of an overcoat. Chief Detective Cameron stated that Lagan was admitted to probation for a period of two years for theft at Auckland on June 11.
On the theft charge, Lagan was ordered to be detained in the Borstal Institution for two years. He was convicted and discharged on the other two charges.
