<A BASIC REMEDY. (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright]. LONDON, July 10. All amendment to. Mr Baldwin’s motion of censure on the Government (regarding the tariff issue) has been tabled,; by the Labour Party, left wingers, including Messrs Wise, Beckett, McGovern and Oliver Baldwin, and Miss Jenny Lee. The amendment is one declaring that neither free trade nor protection is the remedy for unemployment, and it asks the Government to rescue British agriculture from ruin? by firsjt establishing import boards for the (principal foodstuffs and raw materials imported, which will enable the guaranteeing of remunerative prices to the British agriculturists for - their produce, the Boards being in order to avoid the disastrous effects of speculation and of pumping.. Secondly, the amendment urges the Government to
build up the British exports by reciprocal arrangements in connection with hulk contracts. Thirdly, it Urges it to recognise on national lines the importing and exporting machinery of the staple trades so as to deal with unfair competition.
