RUGBY, July 7.
-The Foreign Secretary, Mr Arthur Henderson, replying to a Parliamentary question, said that he had already informed the House on January 27th that it was not proposed to guarantee any loan to the Russian Government in connection with negotiators for the payment of debts due British nationals, since when there had been no change in the- policy of liis Majesty’s Government.
ART TREASURES. HUGE SUM FOR PARIS s COLLECTION. LONDON, July 10. Sir Joseph Duveen has acquired in Dreyfus a collection of Renaissance works of art at Paris, for which it is known that the executors had been asking one million sterling. The treasures are Iring packed,' and they will be sent to England before going on to America. , • PARLIAMENTARY UNION. . RUGBY, July 8. For the conference of 'the Interparliamentary Union that is to be held in London from July 16 to July 22, delegations are coming from twentyseven .nations. The delegations vary from one member up to about fifty, the approximate number of those attending, so far advised, is 500. POLITICAL APPOINTMENT. RUGBY - , July 8. The Secretary of State 'for the Colonies, Lord Pass field, has appointed Mr Gi J. Tomlinson, formerly of the Nigerian Civil Service, to he Assistant Under-Secretary of State in the C'ojenial Office) to take charge, of' the hew division that is being set up to deal with; all matters relating to the personnel of colonial services.
