A BROADCAST

WELLINGTON, July 9
Mr Sterling (General Manager of the New Zealand .Railways) has received the following cablegram from Mr Clapp (Railway Commissioner of Yjetoria), dated Melbourne, July 7tli. —■ New Zealand farmers' party will broadcast from observation car Reso train at eight p.m. Melbourne time on Sunday next through Station 3 L. 0.” Tt is pointed out that this will be the first occasion on which-the experiment of broadcasting from a railway car has been adopted in Australia.
AUDITOR’S GERTJ FI CATES

Opinion that an auditor’s certificate should deal with facts only was placed on record at the recent meeting of the Executive Committee of the New Zealand Society of Accountants' The prospectus of a proposed limited liability company, embodying .a cer-f tificate from, an auditor: regarding .the future profits of the company, , wate before the ■ meeting, It was resolved to communicate , with the auditor asking for an ..Explanation and indicating that, in; the opinion- of. the executive committee, a certificate should cover the facts and : stating, that' ns future profits were problematical the" giving of a certificate was considered unprofessional.
SERIES OF CHARGES. ’
GISBORNE; July 9,
At the ( Police Court at Port Awanui, Leslie Clive Munro, alias Roy Williams, alias Philip Neilson, 23, pleading not guilty to a charge of a serious offence against a Maori girl of 14 years and 8 months, was committed to the Supreme Court at Gisborne for trial. On two charges of theft and. one charge of obtaining goods by fraud, Munro was convicted and discharged at Gisborne. , ‘ On Saturday Munro was committed to Borstal for a period not exceeding two years, on a series of charges of theft.
DEATH BY ACCIDENT.
DUNEDIN, July * 9
At the inquest on Rev John William Foster, curate at St. Paul’s Cathedral, who was found dead yesterday in a room with the gas turned on, the Coroner found death was due to accidental asphyxiation. The evidence went to show" he had got; out of bed and probably fainted, being subject to such seizures, and had fallen, breaking the gas pipe of the heater , and probably was overcome by- gas before he could recover from the seizure. There was a bruise on the head from a fail and a bruise on the leg-where he struck -the heater. The window was open, and deceased’s body was not close to the heater.
A PROTEST
I)ANNEYIRKE, July 9
When advicce was received by the Dennevirke Hospital Board to-day that in view of the financial position, the payment of subsidies on bequests and voluntary contributions was generally to be suspended during the present financial year, except in such special cases as may he approved by the Minister, the Danniverke Hospital Board decided to enter, a protest against such a curtailment to the Minister of Public Health.
