The . critics agree that the Borotra’ and Tilden struggle was one of the most ibrilliant .ever seen at Wimbledon. Borotra put every ounce of Usability into the struggle, for he was the last hope of the French dynasty at Wimbledon, which has- lasted for six years. Following Wednesday’s thrilling Tilden-Borotra match to-day’s fare at Wimbledon was tame, all the doubles ending; in accordance with expectation. .There was no surprise in ’Crawford’s and Miss Ryan’js triumph ■ seeing that the latter is rated as the world’s best mixed doubles (partner, while Allison’s partner was most feeble by, comparison. ; Miss Ryan proved not only an efficient player but. directed a strategy of more persistent lobbing, with slowed down shots in the third set which worried Allison and Miss Cross more, than the hardest ; driving. Crawford was much more active and accurate than in the earlier games [and pulled a . full share of the visitors effort. LONDON, July 3.
At, Wimbledon, Crawford and Miss Ryan reached the semi-final by means of a comfortable victory over the Americans.
