HOBART; June 2.
A determined effort is being made by the magistrates in Tasmania to put a stop to the illegal borrowing of motor-cars for joyriding. Two liuinceston youths, Cyril C. Jarman and Cyril J. W. Brown, who used a couple of cars without the consent of the owners, were each sentenced to gaol for a month.
DARWIN COUNCIL RESIGNS. DARWIN, June 17
Members of tig; Town Council resigned in a body, following a message from Mr Blackley (Minister of Home Affairs) ordering the postponement of the Council election, in view of the early introduction of adult suffrage, Hitherto the Council had been elected by the ratepayers only.
