INQUEST OPENED.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 17
“It is a dreadful disaster that has overtaken us,” said the Coroner (Mr E. 1). Mosley) at the inquest opened this morning and adjoinned,• on the victims of tlie crossing smash. “I am sure the public of New Zealand sincerely regret that it should have happened at all. It is hard to understand there are six lives of value to the community gone in a moment.” Evidence of ideal ificat.on was then given.
