HAMILTON. June 13
A former Justice of Peace and Coroner at Putaruru, James Walter Barr Brown, aged 51 years, pleaded guilty at Hamdton Supreme OouJt to-day to two charges of indecent assault. Sentence was; /postponed.
CYCLIST KILLS CONY
H ANVER A, June 13
A cow was killed outright and a moltor cyclist, R. Tapp of liawera “Star” delivery staff experienced a fortunate escape from serious injury last evening in a collision near Matagu. Tiie cyclist was passing a group of Unattended stock when the cow started to cross the road but stopped in the truck of the cycle, with its head lowered, and the animal vas struck a glancing blow. It made a leap, to fall on its head, its neck being broken. The rider escaped with severe bruises.
FALSE PRETENCE.
AUCKLAND, June 33.
Apparently this man' is a professional love, maker,., said the Chief Detective, when Cecil Granville, -41, pleaded guilty to obtaining money ly false pretences at Waikino and in Wellington in 1927. The Chief DeLective said accused got into touch with the entrant in a beauty contest, obtained an engagement ring from her and borrowed £25 from her father. Then', knowing the police were after him, went to Sydney, where according to a letter the police had received, he had been at the same game. He was a married man with three children. He received six months imprisonment
