BRISBANE. June 11
Unusual punishment was ordered by Justice lie,.c!mian following the conviction of a youth for an offence upon a girl. Tim ju.,ge said .i the youth’s father, administered ten stiokes of the cane on the youth’s back in the cells in the presence of a policeman lie would release Inin from custody. The father agreed anil the punishment was duly earned out.
THREE CONVICTS ESCAPE
(Received this day at 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, June 12.
Police, assisted by settlers, are searching for three convicts who escaped while walking under an armed guard about 5 miles from Beeciiworth Gaol. As they are without food it is expected that they will he captured soon,
