DAMAGED PROPELLOR
DUNEDIN, June 9. The Federal twin-screw steamer, Cambridge, was docked at Port Chalmers without difficulty, the bow extending well into the dock extension which was provided recently for the accommodation of the damaged whaler C. A. Larsen. On examination of the Cambridge in (lock it was found that in the loss of the missing propel lor blade, the boss tp, which it was attached had been damaged. Portion of it had been broken away, leaving room only for two fastening holts. A new blade could not therefore be fitted until a new boss had been provided. Tu order however, to avert the necessity for casting a new boss another of the four blades was removed. That let two blades in position, one opposite the other. The. ship was floated out of dry clock to-day and berthed to take in cargo. It is understood that instructions from London are awaited as to whether ,the steamer shall be perniitted to return to England with the improvised propeller which lias been converted from the four blades to two blades,
