The Council met at 2 p.m. Present: —[Messrs Wm. Searle (Couuty Chairman), H. Wells,. 13. Ward, T. It. Chesterman, J. Donovan, M. Keenan, M. Houston. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence . approved.

From Mines Department, advising Department had granted £4O towards pack track to Mount Greenland Mine. .—Received. It was stated that, the work is now in band. " : :y ■ From Lands and Survey Department regarding timber on roads through Butler’s freehold, Mahinapua S.D.— Received. The Chairman reported having looked into the matter. Mr Houston moved that the Council decline to accept'the" proposals without suitable monetary arrangements being made.—Seconded by Mr Donovan and carried.
From Same, forwarding tracing of Survey of road at South Rank of Big Waitaha River, requiring W. Wright’s signature. —Received. The Chairman reported lie had interviewed Mr Wright who had declined to allow the road to pass through his property: It was resolved to notify the Department and Mr Douglas of the present deadlock.
From Internal Affairs'Department, forwarding map with proposed;regional boundaries for the Coa.st, embracing all Counties ami interior "Boroughs. —■ Received; proposals approved on the motion of Messrs Houston and Ward.
From Arthurs Pass National ParkBoard asking if Council will,contribute towards the expenses of' 1 opening up Arthurs Pass National Park, Otira. — Received. Mr Ward moved that £lO be voted. Seconded by Mr Keenan and carried.
From J'. O’Brien M.P., Greymouth, advising that the visit of the Minister of Public Works had been adnudonecl; also stating making arrangements to visit Qkuni shortly.- Received. The Chairman reported that in company with Mr Millner he’ proposed to meet Mr O’Brien at Waiho. Action approved. Mr Houston moved that Bernhard's salary be increased by £2 per month.—Seconded by Mr, Donovan and carried.

Mr..,Donovan, in supporting, said after what 'heyhad seen of the County lorries operatiVig in the Okarito district, and he was very pleased with their work, and he considered it was a good move to secure the proposed truck.
The motion was agreed to. FINANCE COMMITTEE'S REPORT. 1— Your Committee has the honor to report that the accounts presented for the month of May, 1930,. have been carefully examined and beg to recommend that the amount as approved,, totalling £1331 15s 4d. be passed for payment. 2 Your Committee further re ominends that, a- vote of £3 he granted lilie 1 Okarito Library Committee. ■it Received and approved.

The; Chairman moved:— “That the accounts for the month of May, 1930, as revised and recommended tor payment by the Finance Committee; amounting to £lßl3 15s 4d, be passed for payment.”—Seconded by Mr Ward and carried, The; Chairman moved:— “That all existing Committees he discharged, and the Council proceed to appoint Committees as follows:
(a) Finance Committee: Crs. Ward (Chairman), Donovan, Keenan, and Murdoch.
(b) Public Works Committee: Crs, Jeffries (Chairman), Houston, Wells and Chesterman.
* (c) Councillors to sign Cheques: The Chairman, Crs. Ward, Donoian, Keenan, Murdoch, Jeffries and Houston.

The ChaSinnan 1 mooted:— “That public notice he given to strike the annual general rate on 15th July, 1930.”—-Seconded by Mr Ward and carried.
Mr D/onovan moved;— “’That the track south side of Waiho rivor from Doclierty’s Creek to sea beach, b P cleared of overgrowth and fallen trees, and repaired as required; cost not to exceed £6.”—Seconded by Mr Houston and carried. Mr , DonoVan moved:— “That Three Mile creek ferry be continued to meet the requirements in regard to mining developments in that locality.’’—Seconded by Mr Houston and carried. Mr Houston moved : —“That Butler Road be repaired at a. cost of £s.” Seconded by Mr Donovan and carried. Mr Donovan moved:—“That- a man be employed for a week on Three Mile Track,. Okarito.”—Seconded by Mr Houston and carried. The Council rose at 3.50 p.m.
