MUNN ON TRIAL

AUCKLAND, May 12
The trial of Arthur Thomas Munn, on a charge of murdering his wife Lilian May Munn at Northcote on February lltli, commenced this morning. Munn, who is a furniture maker, aged 45, was represented by Messrs Nortlicroft and Munro.
The Crown Prosecutor, Mr Meredith, has with him Mr F. McCarthy, and Mr Justice Herdman is on the Bench. Mr Nortlicroft exhlisted hh rich* i f challenging the jurists and Mr Meredith stood seven aside.
Following the empanelling of tlm jury, the court adjourned for close on two hours, while argument was heard in Chambers on the admissahility of certain evidence.
On the resumption. Mr Meredith opened his address, which is expected to occupy the greater part ot the day The earlier part of the address was devoted to remarks on the effect of sir vch nine.
